Who are a&g?
We’ll let them tell you. Take it away, Falzone –
For starters, we’re an independent ad agency.
That means we get to do whatever we want. Like create digital & traditional brand experiences. We toss technology & media & analytics into the mix, too.
We’ve got clients in music & fashion & entertainment & sports because these are all things we’re into.
This makes our job much easier & it keeps our method simple — first we get psyched about who you are & what you do & then we get your customers psyched, too.
When we first met with ENDWAY, one thing was clear — it was a matter of life and death.
Not for anybody in the room, mind you, or anybody else for that matter. What I’m talking about is this –
The record industry is dying.
But music is alive and well.
You see, ENDWAY had put out some terrific indie music already and, while they continued to tour tirelessly and put on one helluva live show, they hadn’t broken out, not yet.
These days, it’s no secret there’s no money to be made selling records, CDs, mp3s, whatever. People have grown quite accustomed to paying next to nothing or nothing for music these days and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change anytime soon.
ENDWAY came to us with a good idea — they wanted to start giving away their music for free.
They decided enough with trying to squeeze blood from a tombstone and instead pin their hopes of making their living elsewhere, like shows, merch, sponsorships, etc. They were ready to turn their backs on record labels and iTunes and Best Buy and all the rest.
How?
They wanted us to help them launch a website with their music available for free download, straight to their fans, right from the source.
Like I said, a good idea.
So we took their good idea and added a good idea of our own — give ENDWAY music away for free, but in exchange, ask for a donation to a charity of their choice.
Why?
They’d told us they made a point of trying to get in some charity work in whatever city they found themselves while on tour. So we said why not go one step further and create a way for their fans to pitch in, too? And since they were willing to give away their music for nothing anyway, so why not give 100% of all donations to the charity?
They agreed. And there you have it.
One good idea + one good idea = one really great idea.
That brings us to the all-new ENDWAY.com. We created a band website unlike any we’ve ever seen before. We studied the advice and example of visionaries –
folks like Trent Reznor, Radiohead, Coldplay, Pearl Jam, Josh Freese, Amanda Palmer, Bob Lefsetz, Hugh Jackman, Alex Bogusky, Seth Godin… heck, even Barack Obama –
and we put it into action.
Along the way, we also created some old-school stuff like a classy new band logo, a pop-art gem of an album cover, a slew of eye-catching tour posters, and lots more.
In the end, what’s the point? Why bother?
Well, we believe music’s never been more popular than it is today.
So there’s no good reason why a band that can create a true and lasting connection with their fans shouldn’t be able to scratch out a living making and playing their music.
All it takes is for each of their fans to come see them play, get their hands on their music, and share the experience with someone new. And so on.
They say a little change can change someone’s life. But even if you can’t spare any today, you can still help yourself to some great music.
After all — to paraphrase the immortal words of the Rolling Stones — it’s only rock n’ roll, but we like it. Yes we do.
